I was moving some of my plants outside around midnight before going to bed one night, and when I walked by our sliding doors in the kitchen, I saw this green bird sized blur fly by the deck light. I immediately thought "HOLY SHIT, I BET THAT WAS A LUNA MOTH!!!!" and ran outside, and there it was, on the floor of the deck.
I can't believe how incredibly lucky I am to get to see one of these, apparently they're really rare because they only produce one generation of moths a year and they only live for about a week. I always hoped I would see one, and I'm so glad I did.

yeah, but only for a minute at contactin mountains. It wasn't that big but there were three of them around one of the outside lights doing what moths do.
